Sand Dropseed
Description
Sand Dropseed is a long-lived perennial warm-season bunchgrass that grows between 1-3ft tall. Sand Dropseed is native to most of the lower 48 states and most of Canada. It is extremely drought-tolerant.
The large open seed heads have long branches normally spreading or reflexed. This species produces dense networks of roots that bind sand making it ideal in erosion control projects. The fine roots help it thrive in drought conditions. As such, it is also a prolific seed-producer. Sand Dropseed is normally used in native pasture reseeding, reclamation, and erosion control projects.
