Description
Bromus marginatus Mountain Brome is Native to the Intermountain West and Rocky Mountain region. It establishes rapidly and is a perennial cool season bunchgrass. It's best use is as a pioneer species in seeding mixtures to re-vegetate livestock and game ranges and to protect slopes, disturbed areas and after fires. Mountain Brome is short-lived but vigorous, and has great value for quick cover in any open slope or range area. Encouraging self-seeding by letting the plants flower in the Fall will improve stand longevity. It thrives especially in mixed stands with clovers and other legumes.
